Welcome to the Jewish Charity Guide
The Guide was created over thirty years ago to fill the need for a research tool specifically featuring UK registered Jewish charities. These organisations raise funds for a wide range of voluntary organisations serving Jewish communities in the UK, Israel and Europe and cover every aspect of Jewish life, from the arts, culture, sports and education, to health and welfare, disability, human rights, mental health, religion and much more. Some also support wider communities in need, especially at times of natural or war-related crises.
The pressures faced by voluntary organisations are ever-present and predominantly include a need for more funding to enable them to maintain or increase their premises and activities in line with the demands of an ageing population as well as the effects of war and antisemitism, and the need to bring together, educate and support people of Jewish heritage.
You can donate direct today by contacting any of the charities listed here but we urge you to also consider leaving a bequest to one or more of them in your Will. By doing so, you will not only be making your wishes known to your executors but will also be helping to ensure the future of our vibrant and highly effective Jewish voluntary organisations for many years to come.
So even when your footsteps leave this earth, your footprints will remain!

Arts Therapies for Children: Transforming Young Lives Through Creative Therapies.
Since 2016, Arts Therapies for Children has offered affordable and accessible creative therapeutic help to Jewish children who are struggling with their mental health and well-being. We support children affected by abuse, neglect, grief, neurodiverse conditions, and learning disabilities.
Our team of qualified art and play therapists deliver timely and trusted arts therapies to more than 220 children each week in 37 schools in London, Manchester, and Hertfordshire. We believe the best place for a child to receive therapy is at school, where they feel safe. This approach also reduces any social stigma a child and their family may feel when seeking external mental health support and makes it easier to ask for help. Using textured, colourful, and soothing sensory arts materials, patience, sensitivity, and professional support, our children safely explore impossibly difficult and uncomfortable thoughts and feelings.
Our holistic approach, involving the key people in a child’s network, gives a child, their family, and community hope and healing. We are proud of the progress our children make over time. Reported outcomes include improved self-worth and self-awareness, higher levels of resilience and confidence, healthier relationships, more effective behaviour management and self-regulation, and increased engagement with learning and the curriculum.

Bet Elazraki Children’s Home in Netanya is a home in the deepest sense of the word. More than two hundred children who grew up with trauma, neglect and instability find here the safety, love and guidance they never had. For over fifty years, Bet Elazraki has been a place where childhood is restored and futures are rebuilt.
Our approach is rooted in three essentials. A stable and loving home that gives every child a sense of belonging. Emotional support through intensive therapies that help them heal. And a commitment to helping each child reach their full potential through education, life skills and personal development.
Children often tell us that Bet Elazraki is the first place where they felt seen and valued. One teenager shared, ‘Here I learned that I matter. Here I learned I can dream.’
Under the leadership of our Director, Yehuda Kohn, for more than three decades, we have raised over six hundred children who remain part of our family for life. We stand by them through army service, university, weddings and parenthood, just as any family would.
Our mission is simple, to give every child the safety, love and opportunity they deserve. At Bet Elazraki each child is given the chance to heal, to grow and to build a hopeful future.
Bet Elazraki is where children find a home.
To donate, please use Elazraki.org.il or, if you are in the UK, please visit Emunah www.emunah.org.uk or UK Toremet www.UKToremet.org.uk and indicate your nominated charity as Bet Elazraki.

United Hatzalah’s mission is to save lives in Israel by responding to medical emergencies within the first critical minutes of a medical crisis. It aims to plug the gap between when an emergency call is made and the time an ambulance arrives.
United Hatzalah’s service is delivered by 8,000+ community-based, trained and certified volunteer medics who drop everything to respond in just three minutes across Israel, working towards a goal of 90 seconds. This speed of respond ensures rapid delivery of critical emergency care, ensuring more lives are saved. United Hatzalah’s volunteer medics treat and stabilise each patient then work with the arriving ambulance crew to deliver any further treatment and organise hospital transport.
United Hatzalah serves all people in Israel including Jews, Christian, Muslims, Druze and more and its volunteers reflect this same diversity. They come from all areas of Israeli society from truck drivers, police officers, lawyers, bankers, business owners and beyond. They are secular and religious; male and female; Jewish and non-Jewish.
The service is funded entirely through donations and requires significant investment in training, equipment, vehicles and technology to ensure help arrives at speed, where it is needed most 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Thanks to the organisation’s generous supporters, United Hatzalah is available for free to anyone that needs it, regardless of insurance status, religion or nationality.

CST is the charity that protects British Jews from terrorism and antisemitism. It exists to ensure that Jewish people across the UK can lead the lives of their choice. Widely recognised by police and government as a unique model of best practice, CST’s research regularly informs public policy, helps to safeguard wider British society, and supports victims of antisemitism.
CST gained charitable status in 1994, though its origins lie in many decades of Jewish self-defence – both before and after World War Two. CST does not charge for any of its services and is almost entirely dependent on charitable donations to cover its costs.
At a time when antisemitism is at record levels and the terrorist threat has rarely been higher; CST’s work has never been more vital. Without security we would not have a community. Thank you for your support, we really appreciate it.

Founded in 1994, the Clothing Collection Fund is a non-profit making organisation that makes a real and lasting difference to the many people we support.
Proceeds from the sale of clothes and other donated goods are given to local charities in the North London area. Your donations will help us to provide food parcels, which are distributed to the elderly and needy in the area. Sedarim are arranged and local projects are supported, such as helping disabled children with learning difficulties.
Let us collect your good quality unwanted clothing, bric a brac, toys, books, religious or historical artefacts and office/computer equipment, all of which we can turn into cash to fund our many projects. The more you donate, the more we can help our local community.
We are happy to collect within a reasonable distance from our headquarters in Finsbury Park.
We do not have a website or email service but please call us and leave a message so that we can respond as soon as possible with a suggested date for collection.
Each bag of donated goods will generate so much. Will you help us to continue our vital work?

They Would Cry If They Could — Help Children with Familial Dysautonomia
Familial Dysautonomia (FD) is a rare and heartbreaking genetic disorder that robs children of the ability to feel pain, regulate temperature, or even cry real tears. It disrupts the body’s automatic functions — swallowing, breathing, digesting, and responding to stress — turning ordinary moments into daily battles for survival. Yet through it all, children with FD show remarkable strength, laughter, and determination. Behind every child with FD stands a family fighting for comfort, care, and hope. With your support, FD-UK.org provides that vital lifeline — funding essential medical treatment, equipment, and travel for specialist care not available through the NHS.
“As a parent of someone who has FD, I am so grateful for the charity’s ongoing support, which is not supported by the NHS. The charity supports literally anything from a private GP in an emergency , to paying for a piece of equipment. Thank you so much for being there, always.” Rosalind Jacobs< The charity also supports pioneering research, helps train UK doctors and therapists, and brings world experts to share their knowledge so that every child receives the best possible care. Your generosity can make a real difference — helping a child to breathe more easily, grow stronger, and live longer. Every donation brings us one step closer to a future where no child suffers alone. Please give today — your compassion can change lives. Donations can be made securely via: https://donorbox.org/fd-uk-donations

When FJRO was created in1919 its remit was to ‘relieve Jewish victims of war and persecution and to relieve poverty and sickness among, and to advance the education of, Jewish people.
Over a hundred years later, the needs of Jewish communities in Israel and the UK are still at the forefront of our work and in the last ten years we have, for instance, developed numerous projects in Israel in cooperation with The Jaffa Institute, including education for children from problematic backgrounds and providing food and clothing for deprived families.
We also make donations to the Forgotten People Fund, which supports the Ethiopian community in Israel with education and equipment, and to Karmey Chesed, which supports families in poverty as well as distributing food parcels to support those who cannot afford life’s most vital essentials.
We make a number of other donations to charities in Israel and England, particularly to Norwood Ravenswood, CST , Chai Cancer Care , Brondesbury Synagogue, and the Jewish Community Secondary School (JCOSS).
FJRO is supported by the Christadelphian Community for the benefit of ‘The Children of Israel’.
Please consider us when making a donation or writing your Will, so that we can continue to offer these essential services to Jewish families in the UK and Israel.

The Foundation for Jewish Heritage was established to work in the UK and internationally on preserving Jewish built heritage; a heritage that faces profound challenges as a result of the great upheavals faced by the Jewish people in the 20th century which meant many centuries-old historic sites became orphaned and, without a community of users, remain to this day in danger in many parts of the world.
We prioritise preserving important historic synagogues at risk being the most iconic buildings of the Jewish community, and focus on Europe where most historic synagogues are located.
The Foundation views its role as essentially educational – using these remarkable buildings to inform about the life and contribution of the Jewish community, building awareness, understanding and empathy, combating ignorance, prejudice and antisemitism.
Our mantra is ‘preserving the past, shaping the future’. We want to impact society today and tomorrow.

When you donate to the Freddie Krivine Initiative or include us in your Will, you help to sustain vital programmes that bring Jewish and Arab children together through tennis, friendship, and mutual respect—programmes that nurture understanding and peace, one game at a time. Your gift helps this vital work endure.
Our activities include after school tennis and homework clubs, with Arab and Jewish coaches, attended by over 150 children. The programme builds confidence, language skills, and opens paths to higher education. We hold joyous joint celebrations of Arab and Israeli festivals, and run Jewish-Arab summer camps bringing youth together to build friendship, empathy, and understanding through shared activities in a safe and welcoming space.
Founded in 2000 by the late Freddie Krivine, a British-born Zionist, visionary, and then President of the Israel Tennis Association. Known as “Mr. Tennis” in Israel, Freddie believed passionately that sport could unite communities — especially in the toughest times. During the Second Intifada, when many believed coexistence was impossible, he launched the programme that became the Freddie Krivine Initiative. He insisted: ‘This is exactly the time to bring people together.’
Our mission is to enhance and strengthen the value of education, equality and social inclusion for Arab youth in Israel, through the sport of tennis and shared society activities between Jewish and Arab communities.
Since 2000 we have reached over 10,000 children and now welcome over 350 children and more than 1,000 family and community members every year.

Founded in 2004, with hubs in London, Manchester, and Jerusalem, GIFTs mission is to inspire and enable lifelong giving. We strive to create a society where community engagement, kindness, compassion, and social responsibility are embedded in everyday life.
Through innovative educational programmes in schools, youth groups, and universities, GIFT teaches the joy and importance of giving. Our interactive and hands-on sessions encourage young people to make generosity a natural part of who they are. These values are further reinforced through GIFT’s wide range of practical volunteering initiatives, allowing participants to put learning into meaningful action.
Each year, thousands of volunteers dedicate tens of thousands of hours to supporting individuals and families in need. GIFT distributes hundreds of weekly food and care packages to disadvantaged households, provides tutoring and mentoring for children struggling in school, and offers emotional and practical support for those facing hardship. We also run innovative large-scale volunteering programmes such as Beyond the Label, The Green Closet, The Giving Kitchen, and GiveFest, each designed to engage volunteers creatively in acts of kindness.
Beyond direct aid, GIFT fosters a vibrant culture of giving through park clean-ups, holiday volunteering, family giving days, and youth leadership programmes that empower people of all ages to make a lasting difference.
Every act of giving, big or small, creates ripples of positive change.
Join us in building a world where giving is not just something we do, but part of who we are.

Working across the UK, the Holocaust Educational Trust aims to educate people from all backgrounds about the Holocaust, the history of antisemitism and how antisemitism manifests today.
We partner with schools, universities, local authorities and workplaces to provide internationally recognised teacher training and high-quality classroom resources. Through our Lessons from Auschwitz Project, tens of thousands of students and teachers have had the opportunity to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, the most notorious site of the Holocaust, for themselves. In addition, our Outreach programme enables Holocaust survivors and their descendants to travel across the country, delivering powerful testimony.
Our new Testimony 360: People and Places of the Holocaust programme combines digital eyewitness testimony with virtual reality, revolutionising access to survivor accounts and providing an invaluable opportunity for students learning about the Holocaust.
Together, we will ensure that the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust are remembered, and that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten.

Jami, the mental health service for the Jewish community and part of Jewish Care, provides vital services for young people from 11 years old through to those in later life, whose mental illness and distress makes everyday life a struggle. Jami’s lifesaving services give people hope and support their recovery.
These services include one-to-one adult support, talking therapies, support for children and young people, advice and advocacy, support groups for families and carers, volunteer befriending and vocational support, all of which are lifelines for people living with mental illness and distress. The same is true of Jami’s community hubs and social enterprise café, Head Room in Golders Green, which provide vital social connection for people who may have become isolated because of their mental health.
To increase people’s understanding around mental health including how to prevent suicide, we also provide specialist courses to community leaders, including bespoke courses designed to speak to the Jewish community and Mental Health First Aid training.
Our community has come a long way in understanding and supporting people with mental illness, but there is still lots more to do.

Jewish Blind & Disabled (JBD) transforms the lives of Jewish adults aged 18 and over who have physical disabilities or vision impairments, enabling them to live independently with dignity and choice. Established over 50 years ago, JBD provides specially adapted mobility apartments across seven developments in North and North East London and Hertfordshire, with an eighth opening in early 2026.
With only 7% of England’s housing offering basic accessibility, many people with disabilities live in unsuitable homes. Unsurprisingly, 38% of those with long-term physical conditions also face severe mental health challenges. JBD offers safe, accessible homes with modern kitchens, walk-in shower rooms, and 24/7 onsite support from House Managers.
Most tenants were not born with a disability but face life-changing diagnoses later in life. JBD helps restore independence and self-worth through practical support and a warm, inclusive Jewish community.
Beyond our developments, the Independent Living Advisory Service supports people living in their own homes. Led by Occupational Therapists, it offers free assessments and guidance on aids and adaptations. We also run monthly sight loss support groups and partner with Jewish Care to support those affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Demand for our unique housing and support has grown significantly since Covid. As an independent charity without government funding, we rely on legacies and donations to continue our vital work.

For over 125 years we have worked closely with other Jewish organisations to provide summer holidays for needy and underprivileged Jewish children who would otherwise go without.
During two weeks full of fun and friendship at a residential or local holiday camp they can take part in activities that include outings, quizzes, sports and swimming, whilst they socialise with other children and possibly gain respite from difficult family or personal circumstances.
The camps are strictly Kosher and Shabbat observant. We include camps with children who have disabilities. Subsidies are available and no child is turned away for financial reasons.
Please help us to support the many Jewish children who desperately need and deserve a holiday that many of us take for granted.

Most of us will eventually face the trauma of hearing loss, or already have a loved one who is. With your help we can:
• Support families – from the devastating diagnosis of their baby’s deafness – and enable a new generation of deaf children to fulfil their potential and flourish
• Rescue older people living in care homes from isolation and loneliness and enable them to chat, join in activities and enjoy their final years
• Give Lifelong care and support to vulnerable deaf and deafblind people
• Help more people to adapt to traumatic changes as they lose their hearing.
JDA enables people living with deafness to cope with whatever challenges life brings – as no other organisation can. We receive no statutory funding and depend on legacies and donations to provide a lifeline for the Jewish community and beyond.

JVN exists to make volunteering simple, meaningful, and impactful, helping charities find the people they need, and helping individuals find their ideal way to give back. Since 2006, we have connected over 8,000 people to volunteering opportunities, supporting more than 470 charities by finding them skilled, committed volunteers.
Regular long-term, short-term, or one-off volunteering events: JVN offers year-round opportunities across the volunteering spectrum. Our central website hosts a dynamic search function which helps volunteers to find opportunities to match their skills, locations and interests. We continuously encourage volunteers to engage with cross-communal opportunities, finding common ground through meaningful causes.
JVN helps Jewish people connect with opportunities where they feel most comfortable and familiar. Our volunteers frequently tell us how they have been “renewed” emotionally and physically by their roles. We believe the benefits of volunteering should be accessible and meaningful for all, and our dedicated volunteer broker is available to assist those with additional needs in finding their perfect voluntary role.
We support 46 partner charities through training, brokerage, and strategic partnerships. Our stewardship strengthens the voluntary sector, building a more resilient community in the face of economic and social challenges.

The founder of the Laniado hospital in Netanya, was R’ Y Halberstam, the Klausenberger Rebbe Z’tl. Following his experiences in the holocaust he decided to build a hospital that works along the principles that kindness, hope, compassion and courage are common threads within humanity that we can use to bind us all.
The hospital treats 100,000 patients annually, irrespective of race or religion; we do not ask our patient’s background – rather how we can best help them.
Over 700 babies are born every month at Laniado’s newly refurbished maternity centre, one of the leading maternity centres in the country. It is difficult to think of a more fitting testament to the greatness of the Jewish people and Jewish survival than this.

In 2030, Magen David Adom will celebrate a centenary of lifesaving. One hundred years on the frontline of medical emergency response in Israel. Throughout its history, MDA has had one eye on the future. Not only being ready for today, but being prepared for tomorrow, too. This manifests across the organisation. In its commitment to volunteering, embracing diversity and being a global leader in the use of AI and technology, Magen David Adom does not stand still.
The devastating events of 7th October 2023 left a scar on the people of Israel and Jewish communities across the world. Now, as the shadow slowly lifts, Magen David Adom UK is looking to 2030 through the prism of ‘Macharatayim’ – the day after tomorrow. Central to this is the understanding that MDA is so much more than just an ambulance service. It is a living bridge between Israel and the world. The greatest example of what the connection between the people of Israel and the Jewish diaspora can achieve and a source of immense pride and hope in the way Israel is portrayed on the global stage.
But ‘Macharatayim’ is also an understanding that things will never be the same again. The impact on the past two years on the mental health of a nation cannot be underestimated. The trauma caused by what MDA paramedics witnessed and experienced will never disappear. The need to be prepared for a similar attack in the future cannot be overlooked.
The next five years provide an opportunity to ensure that Magen David Adom, Israel’s lifesavers, are ready for tomorrow, and the day after.

Manna – UK Friends of Meir Panim is dedicated to transforming lives across Israel by combating poverty and hunger with dignity. Through the generosity of UK supporters, Manna funds a wide range of vital projects that directly impact some of Israel’s most vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and struggling families.
At the heart of Meir Panim’s work are its network of restaurant-style food centres, which serve thousands of hot, nutritious meals every day in an environment that preserves self-respect. For those unable to attend in person, Meals-on-Wheels ensure that no one is left behind. Pre-loaded shopping cards allow families to choose their own groceries, empowering them with independence while meeting essential needs.
Beyond food provision, Manna’s support extends to after-school clubs that provide safety, homework help, and hot meals for disadvantaged children, helping to break the cycle of poverty through education and care. Furniture banks, vocational training, and community projects offer further pathways towards stability and self-sufficiency.
Every pound donated in the UK directly funds these initiatives, turning compassion into practical aid and hope. The impact is measured not only in meals served but in dignity restored, futures strengthened, and communities uplifted.
By supporting Manna, donors play a vital role in alleviating hardship in Israel while upholding the Jewish values of tzedakah and chesed.
Together, we are feeding bodies, nurturing souls, and empowering lives.

Save a Child’s Heart saves the lives of critically ill children suffering from heart disease in countries where access to paediatric heart care is limited or non-existent. Through bringing children to Israel for medical care, performing missions abroad, and training medical personnel, we are bringing hope to families, communities, and countries. As Israels preeminent humanitarian organisation, we are transforming paediatric cardiac care around the world. The children we treat and their caregivers are housed at the Children’s Home during their time in Israel. It is a warm place filled with laughter where often, the only common language is a smile.
Save a Child’s Heart has been dedicated to saving lives and repairing broken hearts for 30 years. During the ongoing war, Save a Child’s Heart has treated Israeli casualties and patients and supported the emergency, wartime needs of the Wolfson Medical Centre while continuing our lifesaving work of treating children with congenital heart disease around the globe.
We have stayed committed to our mission during these unprecedented times, knowing that we are the only hope for survival for children dying of heart disease in many countries In fact, we have now treated a total of 8300 children from 74 countries since our founding, the latest being the Central African Republic.
Even in the face of conflict and uncertainty, our doctors and team have remained committed to their mission of saving lives. Their unwavering dedication and courage are truly inspiring.

Yad Vashem UK Foundation supports the educational and memorialisation resources of Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Centre.
We annually sponsor 20 UK educators from Jewish schools and organisations to attend the International School of Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem for their Teachers’ Seminar to enhance their skills at teaching the Holocaust.

Our successful Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah Twinning programmes ensure meaningful and well researched links are made between those who can celebrate these important Jewish life cycle events and young Jewish victims who tragically died in the Holocaust.

In Israel today, there are over 400,000 children who are deemed ‘at risk’ and who do not have a family that can care for them adequately. Youth Aliyah Child Rescue is stepping up for vulnerable young people by providing a ladder of opportunity that enables them to climb from a life of poverty, neglect and violence, up towards a bright, successful future as contributing members of society.
Through our five youth villages and pioneering educational methodology, the ‘Village Way’, we enable thousands of at risk children – including immigrants and children of immigrants from Ethiopia, the former Soviet Union and around the world – to live in safety, heal from their traumatic pasts and make the climb from survival to leadership.
